HAPPY LEAP DAY!

Today is Leap Day, February 29, 2012.  Thinking I might do something new and exciting since this day only comes around once in four years.

When I first learned about Leap Day, it intriqued me. How could it be that these smart adults in my life needed to periodically correct the calendar by adding another day?  That was the beginning of my understanding that the adults in my life didn't know everything (smile).

For anyone celebrating a birthday today, enjoy yourself cause your special day only happens once in four years. Seems someone could had adjusted the calendar that we use by elminating the months that have 31 days?  But no, someone had the bright idea to just change the calendar once every four years...go figure.

When I started seriously studying astrology, the astrological calendar made more sense to me.  I discovered that the planets move in a systematic way and each cycle can be predicted long before it takes place.  You can go ahead in time or back in time and still Saturn is going to take 29 and a half days to circle the Zodiac.

So since today is Leap Day, let's examine the potential for this special day.  Long ago a tradition was started where women proposed to men during a Leap Year.  When I was a child we would go to the Sadie Hawkins Dance where the girls could ask the boys to dance.  I was too shy to approach a boy so I spent my time on the sidelines watching others.  Later in life I discovered that the reason why I didn't want to approach a boy was because I had abandonment issues.  It was the fear of rejection that made  me feel safe on the sidelines.

So what will you do today, and how do you intend to use your Leap Year?  Is there someone in your life that you want to be closer?  Do you have the courage to get past the fear of rejection to ask someone to marry you?  Well men do it all the time. They are socialized to make the first steps and to take a chance on being rejected.  However, for all the women out there, this is our year to throw caution to the winds and to change the paradigm.

Neurologists who study Alzheimer's Disease, tell us that in order to prevent it, we should get out of our ruts and learn something new.  When we learn something new we create a new groove in our brain.  In fact Alzheimer's is often described as "plaque on the brain".  People who age gracefully and who seem to mentally sharp are people who are always learning something new.

So my suggestion is that you do something a different way today. If there's no possibility of asking someone to marry you, you could try a new food, or travel to work a new way, or adopt a new mantra or affirmation, or read a new book.   Whatever you decide to do, make sure it's enjoyable.  Some of us need to laugh more and not be so serious about everything.  It's all good.  Enjoy this day!

NEW MOON IN PISCES - FEBRUARY 21, 2012

The Sun and Moon will both be in Pisces on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.  This is the New Moon and a great time to start something new.  Deepak Chopra started his 21 day meditation challenge on the 20th. If you're interested in trying it, go to Chopra.Com and sign up for the free service.  New Moon in Pisces is an excellent time to renew your faith, as Pisces says "I Believe".  It's a good time to get serious about whatever spiritual practice you do.  Daily prayers and meditations can help us to navigate through our things to do list. Setting our intentions in a prayerful way and taking time to reconnect with our inner selves is always a good spiritual practice.

Last Saturday, most of us sat in front of our televisions and watched a 4 hour Home Going service for Whitney Houston.  Some of us are still in shock at her sudden departure from this life.  But as time does seem to be moving quickly, we have to deal with it, stop questioning it, and at the same time get back to our own lives.

It's time for us to stop looking at death as the "worst case scenario".  Death is nothing to fear, but it is an inevitable circumstance for all of us.  We came into this life with an expiration date.  On some level, those of us who are tuned in and conscious know when we will go on to the other side.  For others death is something to fear and we upset ourselves tremendously when someone we know and love dies.  We get caught up in saying things like "gone too soon", or "this is a tragedy".  Yet, we all know that death is inevitable.  We're all going to know people who died and at times it's going to be someone we knew and loved.

Now with the New Moon in Pisces, which will be connecting to Neptune in Pisces, we have an opportunity to get over our fears and rise above the collective doom and gloom energy, that makes us sad and afraid. We were taught that we are all spiritual beings having a human experience.  That in death, only the human body is no longer useful, but the soul continues to exist.  Not here on this planet, but in the other realms of existence.

The New Moon in Pisces happens on "Fat Tuesday", the day before Ash Wednesday which sets us up for Easter that comes on April 8, 2012.  Time is moving quickly and it is time to get organized.  But not in the typical way, but in a spiritual way.  When you are consciously in tune with your Higher Self, nothing that happens on this earth plane will stop you from achieving your goals.  I would suggest that you organize your spiritual time and make a commitment to do your spiritual practice on a daily basis.

In that vein, if you're still feeling sorrowful about the "untimely" death of Whitney Houston, then be sure to send prayers to the loved ones that she left behind.  If you're feeling it, then imagine how they must feel. This is a good time to not only talk about your spiritual beliefs or religion, but to demonstrate it in meaningful ways.  Be what it is that you say you believe.  Do what it is that you say you believe, and the spiritual energy coming from New Moon in Pisces..."I  Believe" will not only heal your heart but send out a powerful energy of Divine love that will heal everyone you come in contact with.  I believe in you. Love & Light, to everyone.

WHITNEY HOUSTON'S COSMIC SIGNATURE

Whitney Houston was born on August 9, 1963, and she left this earth on February 11, 2012.  When I first heard the news of Whitney's passing, I did what most astrologers do when a famous person leaves this plane. I did her Solar Chart, because I don't have her time of birth.

The first thing I saw when looking at Whitney's chart was a tight connection between her Sun, planet of will, and Venus, planet of creativity, both in Leo, the sign that says "I Will". We're told that people born under the sign of Leo were royalty in the past.  Well surely Whitney was regal, with a beautiful voice and a beautiful body.  She will be remembered for the songs she sang, her musical ability, the strength and beauty of her magnificent voice.  Spiritually speaking, Leo's lesson this lifetime is to learn to put their wills in alignment with the will of God.  It's not my will be done, but thy will be done.

The second thing I saw was  her Moon, planet of emotions and Jupiter, planet of expansion, both in Aries the sign that says "I Am.  There two planets are forming a positive aspect (trine) to her two planets in Leo.  Wowee!  It would seem that she inherited her talents and gifts from her mother, (Moon), Cissy Houston who is also a professional singer.  Whitney loved to sing, and for most of her adult years she was compensated for her gifts. She was also known to be a cheerful giver and had a great sense of humor (Jupiter connection).  While Jupiter is perceived as a blessing, helping individuals to land on their feet, Jupiter
has another side in that it can inspire individuals to take big chances, or to ignore obvious warning signs that
tell them they've gone too far.

The third thing that jumped out at me when I looked at Whitney's chart was a powerful square from Neptune to her Sun/Venus.  Neptune is the planet of spirituality. Neptune is also the planet of Divine talents and gifts, the higher octave of Venus.  Individuals with strong Neptune contacts are either complete teetotalers, or they can become addicted to prescribed or illegal drugs.  Neptunians are highly sensitive individuals who often seek an escape from the harsh cruel realities of life.  What am I saying here?  Trying to be respectful to Whitney, because I loved her, but the truth is, it seems she went into a negative Neptune spiral that affected her voice and almost destroyed her career.

OK, so many are blaming Bobby Brown for Whitney's addictions as she seemed to go deeper into escapist
behaviors when they became a couple.  However, the fourth thing I saw in her Solar Chart, was Saturn, planet of discipline and tests in Aquarius, opposing her Sun/Venus in Leo and squaring (intense angle) her Neptune in Scorpio.  I believe in the chart comparison it would show that Whitney's Saturn was on Bobby's
Sun.  Even though Whitney probably loved Bobby, the combination was not a good one. He enabled her and she enabled him.  The best thing that came out of this relationship was a beautiful child, Bobbi Christine.

Yes, sad to say, after looking at Saturn in Aquarius in Whitney's chart, is that she had her demons.  While on stage (Sun/Venus) it seemed as if everything was beautiful and light, that she had it altogether.  But deep down inside, I'm not sure she really believed she was worthy of the love that poured out to her.  Sometimes Saturn oppositions create a low grade depression.  The person when in public is smiling and saying "I'm alright, I'm fine", but inside they might be sad and depressed and listening to an inner critic that says "I'm not good enough".

From our perspective, Whitney had everything to live for, and we were all looking forward to a comeback.
But, apprarently Whitney and God had another idea.  Jupiter in Taurus on the day of her death was forming an intense square to her Sun/Venus in Leo, and opposing her Neptune in Scorpio.  Did she accidentally, go too far?  We won't know the cause of death until the coroner provides the results of tests.

So now Whitney is on the other side, she's shuffled off the mortal coil and moved on, probably to join an angelic choir in heaven.  We give thanks for her life, and all the beautiful music she gave to us.  We're told that when we go to the other side, we're asked only two questions: "who did you love, and who did you help?" I'm sure Whitney was able to answer those questions with confidence.  We will pray for Whitney's
loved ones, they loved her, we loved her. Note to Whitney:  WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU.
